In my ideal lesson plan I would like to create a Ning network that allows me create a tab flow chart much like the sample Teacher / Librarian under the Web 2.0 Tools.

My audience would be: students, teachers, parents and anyone who would like to see what’s happening in the Lieder library. (This cite could be linked from the school’s Wiki)

Contents of the Ning would be as follows:


Main Page ( which displays tabs for quick an easy navigation of the cite
Events Tab (for announcing upcoming author visits, book fairs, anything that the library sponsors
Photo Tab (of activities sponsored by the library or that took place in the library)
Book Trailer Tab (created by me, other librarians, and /or other reputable resources
Suggestions taken from teachers as to what they would like to see”Tabbed” that would be useful to them.

I believe a cite would be beneficial to my audience because it gives teachers and students a place to publish, as well as a place to stay current on library activities, questions and answers.

To create the Ning cite would take some time. I can estimate several weeks to months. It definitely would have to be started as a summer project to have most, if not all, components up and running for the beginning of a school year.


Once the cite is created it could be shared with students in two 25 minute class lessons. (Breaking the cite into segments and allowing students to explore, blog and listen to book trailers.
